From now on I will try to keep this page up to date. Honestly speaking I forgot about doing this regularly. Well people are busy these days!!!
One of the most annoying things about being a photographer, apart from realising you have a flat battery in your camera and have not got your spare with you, is when your camera breaks.
Last week I was out in a village called Acomb, and was about to shoot an Autumnal morning, perfect sunshine, people in the foreground which was great, perfect light, I thought great. Not often I strike this lucky. So I got the camera out, set up the tripod etc, and when I pressed the button all I got was a click. And the camera locked up.
Odd its never done that before, so I pressed all the buttons, nothing, eventually had to take the battery out and it reset it.
I have only had the camera for 18 months, and its been well looked after. And I have never heard of many Canon cameras going wrong. They are normally very reliable.
So I get home and rings Canon. they advised me to do a firmware update. The operating system for the camera. I downloaded the software, installed it and hey presto nothing.
So that was a bit of a blow. I then rang them back to be told it needed mending. No surprise there Sherlock I thought. Great, just when you need it, its knackered. Luckily enough I have it covered with an insurance policy with my Bank. And got In touch with the company that they use and sent it away.
So after 4 days or so I got it back. And after speaking to them I found out it was the shutter motor and part of the assembly or something.
So the moral of the tale is if you have a lot of expensive equipment like me, get it insured. The cost of repair bills for these things is hideous. Luckily enough for me I didn't pay a penny. Phew.
