Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside has had somewhat of a revolution in the last 20 years or so. From the Port and Docks of the early to late part of the 20th century and before, to the scenic cultured part of the world it is today.
Even in my lifetime, which isn't as long as some may think it is, I remember a grubby, grey and grim place it was in the early 1980's, to the vibrant bright and exciting place it is now. And judging by the amount of foreign accents, and accents from all over the UK, it seems to be attracting a vast and diverse people. All set on having a fun time and a good night out or weekend.

The streak of light on the left hand side, was the Electric bus that runs from the Quayside into the city centre itself.
The Quayside Newcastle at 10:30pm. Seems I am not the only photographer out and about this late at night.
And for once it was pretty quiet, apart from the tourists taking in the still night air.
This is a scene that would of been unthinkable 20 years ago, how times have changed. Gone are the boats and the warehouses, and the new cosmopolitan Newcastle has arrived it seems.
All of the bridges in one shot. I think this has to be my favourite view of the Quayside. When I was taking this shot I must have been standing there for at least 20 minutes, and managed to speak to about 3 different people, all wanting their picture taken for a holiday keepsake.

Newcastle Quayside, featuring one of the many Bars there. I think, the building on the left was once one of the "Bonded" warehouses. I could be wrong there! But now has been converted into posh city accommodation....
